The National Advocates of Pregnant Women posted on their blog this week that the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey has ruled in favor of  a mother who gave birth to a healthy baby vaginally but had the baby removed from her custody for refusing a cesarean.  Check the blog post for all the details. ICAN is one of many organizations who signed an amicus brief in support of the mother’s case.

Childbirth Today linked to a nifty handout from Childbirth Connection comparing the 2004 ACOG VBAC practice bulletin with the  new one released last month.

Kelli Haywood at Birth True recently presented a Cesarean Awareness Radio Documentary on a local radio station in Kentucky. Listen to the documentary here.

Indie Birth posted some thought-provoking questions on what’s really keeping women from home birth. These questions would be good to ask yourself no matter where you decide to give birth.

  1. OMG!! I can’t believe that they took a baby away from it’s mother for refusing a C/S prior to labour!!! How appalling and my heart goes out to this childless mother. It goes to show that the world truly has gone mad and mainstream society has no concept of why birth is important. To think of all of the damage they have done to this mother child bond….. I wonder what power mad official thought that they could “win” by controlling and brutalising this family.
