It is being reported online today that South Carolina’s Medicaid agency is seeking commitments from hospitals to not perform elective cesareans before 39 weeks.  According to the published article, the push is aimed at lowering costs and improving outcomes amongst newborns in the state.

It seems the campaign to end early elective deliveries is taking hold across the nation.  Do you think the end of elective preterm deliveries nationwide (and possibly worldwide) is near?
