ICAN is excited to announce Jody Swank as our newest Chapter Leader!
“Every woman has the right to know her options and make the best decisions she can for her body and her baby.” – Jody Swank, ICAN of Chattanooga
How did you find about about ICAN?
I attended a meeting with a doula friend in Birmingham, AL in 2009.
Please share a little about yourself.
I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 28 yrs. We have 4 daughters who I homeschooled. My Bachelor’s Degree is in elementary education and I taught public school until the birth of our 2nd daughter in 1996. After our 4th daughter was born I decided to pursue a passion that was birthed in me while I was expecting her. I began certification programs with CAPPA to become a Lactation Educator & Labor Doula. Since 2009 I have been a Labor Doula with my own business. I added a Postpartum Doula certification in 2012. I am fortunate to work in my areas of passion!
What part of being an ICAN Chapter Leader are you most excited about and why?
I am excited to provide education to women to help them make informed choices and help to make them aware of the choices they have.
If you could change one thing about the birth climate in your area, what would it be?
I wish there was more access to birth centers, and in turn, more options for moms.
What is the best thing about the birth climate in your area?
There is a lot of birth advocacy.
Would you care to share your own birth statistics?
I’ve had three VBACs!
When is your next chapter meeting?
Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 7 PM – 8:30 PM at the REV Centre for Optimal Living
417 Frazier Avenue, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37405.
Congratulations, Jody!
