Says Kmom, “It’s a natural reaction to all the years of propaganda we have heard about how unhealthy being fat is, about how dangerous all that weight is, yadda yadda. Then you add in the natural insecurities that go along with being pregnant for the first time, the media onslaught of negative stories about being fat and pregnant…..and it’s a potent recipe for doubts and worries, even in the most self-accepting, empowered woman.”

Science & Sensibility – Straight to the Source: Andrea Lythgoe has started a series on deciphering the medical literature oft-quoted but seldom understood in the media. As Andrea puts it, “…all too often media reports of studies are based on a press release alone, and the reporters never see the real study. Press releases are written in a way to make headlines, not necessarily for complete accuracy, and reporters under a deadline don’t always do much more than use the facts in the press release.”
