Stork Stories…Birth & Breastfeeding discusses skin-to-skin contact in the OR and encourages women to speak up, share their stories and “ help give a voice to the real need to make skin to skin in the OR routine practice in all ORs.”
While we’re on the subject of speaking up, the Hypnobabies Blog posted a mom’s story of firing her OB during labor because she threatened a cesarean. Although she was induced at 42 weeks, this mom fought off her doctor’s pushes for increased intervention and gave birth to her baby girl on her own terms.
Speaking of birthing on your own terms, the video below is a great montage that questions assumptions such as “all twins are born by cesarean.”

Thanks for the inclusion in this post! You can and should speak up and ask for what you think is best for you and your baby. It is always best to discuss a lot ahead of time with your birth attendant so everyone is on the same page and there are no surprises, hopefully no disappointments. I’m telling everyone I work with to keep pushing for it. If anyone out there has to unfortunately undergo this type of birth….PLEASE ask for STS!! You and your baby deserve it.
