“I believe in access to choices for all birthing people and believe in supporting them through all birth experiences.” ~ Nicole Bruno, ICAN of NOVA

Please introduce yourself to ICAN:

I co-own a doula company in Washington DC. I have a degree in Music. I am married with a 6-year-old daughter and am in the process of becoming a foster parent for refugee children. I love Mexican food and my cats.

What led you to join ICAN?

I have known about ICAN for a long time being in the birth field. I decided I wanted to participate as a leader because I work with many women, families and birthing people who have had Cesareans and I think its mission is important.

How do you share ICAN as an organization with others?

I wish people who had cesareans knew it existed. No one should have to hunt down support for days, months, or years in order to find it. I am excited to bring the network into the District of Columbia, and support hospitals and practices to encourage the support network to its patients.

Where will you be serving women through ICAN?

ICAN of NOVA serves northern Virginia and Washington DC. There is a large supportive community for low cesarean rates and VBACs.

Please share your upcoming Chapter meeting:

Please check our website for the latest meeting dates and locations.

Congratulations, Nicole!
