ICAN is excited to announce Sarah Dyer
as our newest Chapter Leader!
“I’m excited to be in a position to help mothers who may be in a really difficult place mentally and emotionally after a disappointing or traumatic birth experience. I want to be able to offer hope and facilitate healing.” – Sarah Dyer, ICAN of South Charlotte
Please share a little about yourself.
I’m a married mother of two little girls who we plan to educate at home. I am passionate about birth and motherhood, and all of the good and bad that comes with it. I am always looking for opportunities for personal growth and education through taking on challenges. I love reading, camping, sports, and am generally interested in all things related to healthy living.
How did you find out about ICAN?
I stumbled across the ICAN of St. Louis Facebook page when I was pregnant with my first. I was planning an out of hospital birth and looking for any and all help and resources to achieve my goal of an unmedicated birth in a free standing birth center. I had no idea how important ICAN would become to me!
What would you say are some of your strongest beliefs about cesarean/VBAC awareness?
My strongest beliefs are that women deserve better than what we often receive in the form of options, support, and respect. I wish all moms knew that VBAC could be a possibility for many and that they can have access to a truly supportive provider.
What area does your chapter serve?
My chapter serves the southern part of the Charlotte Metro Area in Charlotte, NC.
What is the best part about the birth climate in your area?
Being a metropolitan area we have more options than many rural areas.
When is your next chapter meeting?
Our first meeting will be Tuesday, July 17th at 7:30pm in the Earth Fare Community Room at 12235 N Community House Rd in Charlotte.
Congratulations, Sarah!
