Please share a little about yourself.
I’m from Arizona, and my husband and I have been married for seven years. We’ve been blessed with three boys with whom I stay home. I also run a sewing and alterations business for over ten years. We love hiking and exploring the natural and historical beauty in our area. I’m a relational introvert who loves bringing people together. A little quiet, a little quirky, but fiercely loyal.
How did you find out about ICAN?
I heard about ICAN during childbirth classes when I was pregnant with our first. I’m so glad the instructor included resources for all birth outcomes. When I had a disappointing and traumatic birth, I searched for support and community as I healed. I attended ICAN of Phoenix for three years before moving to Louisville last year.
What part of being an ICAN Chapter Leader are you most excited about and why?
I’m excited to support women as they heal and evaluate their birth options. I want women to find hope and see their eyes open to all the possibilities.
What do you wish more people knew about ICAN?
ICAN isn’t just for pregnant women or those planning a VBAC. We support CBAC moms, those planning a repeat cesarean, and those who are not planning any future pregnancies.
Where is your chapter and what area do you serve?
We are located in Kentuckiana. We serve Louisville, the surrounding towns, and southern Indiana.
What is the best thing about the birth climate in your area?
Kentucky recently legalized certified professional midwives, and I’m glad to see that option open up to more families.
Where can we find more info about your chapter?
Here is our Facebook page! We also have a private Facebook group for support here.
Thank you, Elizabeth, for all you do!
